Further details
Granborough is situated one and a half miles south of the market town of Winslow, and nine miles to the north of Aylesbury, which provides a wide variety of educational, shopping and leisure facilities and a rail commuter service to London, Marylebone.
Granborough was once part of the Manor of Winslow. A windmill stood on the hill in a field still called Mill Knob. Granborough Lodge, then the vicarage, was supposed to be haunted by a vicar who died at Scarborough by drowning. During the war there was a day of feat and excitement when an American plane dropped a bomb in Church Lane, which demolished the house of Mr W. Newman, the greengrocer and damaged a few others.
Today, Granborough has a good mixture of property from small cottages through modern family homes to large country homes. The local inn, The Crown, has a reputation for good pub food. The village is in catchment for the Royal Latin Grammar School at Buckingham.
