Hot homes under £250,000: Stratford, east London

By Kristy Gray
Stratford is in the global spotlight as sports fans team out of its gleaming new rail transport network every day. A staggering 200 trains are passing through nine different rail links an hour as the sporting action continues into its final week, but the lasting benefits of the £125m-rail upgrade will boost the area for years to come.

Along with London’s busiest shopping mecca - Westfield Stratford city - post-Games plans for the area include thousands of new homes at East Village in the Olympic Park, a university and the largest new city park in Europe for more than a century, all attracting a new generation of independent shops, cafes, restaurants - not to mention young homebuyers.

For first-timers and young professionals, this dynamic east London district is just the place to get off the property starting blocks. We take a tour and find good-value apartments, plus new homes, to suit buyers on a budget.
