Hot homes: London's mews houses

By Kristy Gray
Hidden from busy roads and tucked away behind London’s grand squares are some of the capital’s most charming homes — mews houses. Once the humble quarters of servants and stable hands, these picturesque terrace cottages are often set along idyllic cobbled streets or at the end of quiet cul-de-sacs in the some of the smartest parts of town.

Full of individual character and period charm, mews homes offer flexible living areas — some with coveted inner-city garage spaces — and are often part of what feels like a friendly village community, with local pubs, independent shops and restaurants on the doorstep.

We take a property tour to uncover some of the best classic mews homes in town — and also find some stunning modern mews conversions.
