10 hot homes: along the Crossrail route

By Kristy Gray
First-time buyers looking for a wise investment should start their search in up-and-coming areas along the new Crossrail network, due to open in 2018. In London new transport routes always trigger vigorous regeneration that transforms a neighbourhood and boosts property prices.

When the capital’s much-anticipated high-speed railway starts operation, the east-to-west line will dramatically reduce commuting times. Those districts around its main hubs with new stations will benefit from faster access to the City — as well as an increase in demand from young professionals seeking good-value homes.

We take a property tour along the new route, starting from Southall and Hanwell in the west, heading through Paddington and the city towards Whitechapel and Woolwich in the east, and find new-build starter flats and buy-to-let homes to suit earlybird homebuyers on a budget.
