Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's new family home

Following news that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are having a baby this summer, the couple have bought a family home for £6.8 million in Los Angeles.

They plan to turn the Bel Air mansion into an Italianate home with a cinema, gym, bowling alley and basketball court. And Kim isn’t going to let her beauty standards slip — she’s ordered a hair and make-up salon to be added.

With Jennifer Aniston as a neighbour, the parents-to-be are in glitzy company. Now all they need to plan is the wedding.

Rent a wing of Blandings' Crom Castle

If the BBC’s adaptation of PG Wodehouse’s Blandings whets your appetite for the aristocratic life, why not rent a wing at Crom Castle and host a house party?

The six-part series, starring Timothy Spall and Jennifer Saunders, was filmed at the Irish pile.

Set in rolling parkland, the home of Lord and Lady Erne is not generally open to the public. However, the West Wing is available to rent on a weekly or long-weekend basis for groups of up to 12. The ultimate party — or family— escape even comes with a cook on request.

With Blandings tipped to be the new Downton, it might be worth making yourself at home at Crom Castle while you still can (cromcastle.com).

Dido produced some of her music at The Media Room

Flagging up the sale of Dido's recording studio

A property fit for pop stars is on the market. The Media Room in Barnsbury, which has been used as a recording studio for years, is for sale through Cluttons at £700,000 (visit homesandproperty.co.uk/mediaroom).

White Flag singer Dido, Peter Andre and the late Bee Gee Robin Gibb all produced tracks on the lower ground floor in its sound-proofed recording room with a separate vocal booth. The ground floor is currently an open-plan office with a kitchen, but converting the Islington pad back to full residential use should be simple. If you feel more of a pull towards its musical heritage, listen up music executives, this slice of history won’t be available for long.

£2 million: a four-bedroom loft apartment at the Piper Building in Fulham

Piper Building attracts aristocrats and an African princess

A converted gas board office block may not sound the most glamorous of addresses but celebs can’t get enough of the Piper Building in Fulham, turned into homes by renowned architects Lifschutz Davidson in the Nineties.

Residents include Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones, British aristocrats and an African princess. And with a 24-hour concierge, a private health club and a mural by celebrated British artist and designer John Piper, you can see the appeal. Now a four-bedroom loft apartment with views over the Thames is on the market there for £2 million. For more information, visit homesandproperty.co.uk/piperbuilding.
