A Wiltshire retreat for Duffy and her clutch of Brits

After a fire forced her to flee her £12 million Kensington penthouse this month, pop star Duffy, winner of a cluster of Brit awards, may be interested to know that a beautiful barn conversion she once lived in is back on the rental market.

The Warwick Avenue singer-songwriter shared the four-bedroom retreat with her on/off rugby player boyfriend Mike Phillips.

Surrounded by farmland, it is located in the lovely village of Dauntsey in Wiltshire. Listed with Hamptons International (homesandproperty.co.uk/duffy) for £381 a week (£1,650 a month), it could provide a safe haven for the Welsh star and those Brits.

Snap a penthouse fit for the royals and Robbie

A magnificent penthouse is for sale overlooking Chelsea Pier, where the Queen and Prince Philip embarked for the Thames Diamond Jubilee River Pageant in June.

The three-bedroom flat is part of the exclusive Chelsea Harbour development, where Jubilee concert star Robbie Williams bought a £2.5 million penthouse in 2003 because his Notting Hill bachelor pad was no longer big enough. Other residents include Sir Michael Caine, Richard Burton’s widow, Sally, and playwright Tom Stoppard. Jackson-Stops & Staff seeks £3.95 million (homesandproperty.co.uk/chelseapenthouse).

Picture yourself in a Brat Pack pad

Marilyn Monroe fans should be on red alert. A West Hollywood home with A-list credentials is for sale. The triplex, listed for £2.96 million, was home to Monroe and Frank Sinatra. The icons lived in the four-bedroom gated complex at the same time in 1961, though the Brat Pack crooner was more of a fleeting visitor.

Turkish designer Kalef Alaton bought the estate in the Eighties, giving it a gorgeous makeover. And it has stood the test of time with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and a glamorous 100ft-long living room. It’s the business.

£750,000: a two-bedroom home, Wotton-under-Edge

Cotswolds retreat is a feast for the eyes

Cosy up for winter in front of a Cotswolds fire in a small banqueting house. The Grade II-listed home sits on an escarpment with spectacular views over an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Built in about 1770 by Matthew Hale, great-great-grandson of King Charles II’s Lord Chief Justice Sir Matthew Hale, the 2.1-acre retreat at Alderley, Wotton-under-Edge has two bedrooms and a lovely triple-aspect living room.

On the market with Knight Frank for £750,000 (homesandproperty.co.uk/summerhouse), there are frequent train services to London Paddington from nearby Kemble station. A charming bolthole to get away from it all.
