Gossip Girl goes for country chic

A-listers Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have taken a break from the red carpet to decorate their new home in Bedford, New York.

The Gossip Girl star bought the “country chic” house last month for £1.47 million and fellow actor Reynolds is accompanying Lively on most of her shopping trips: their favourite homeware store so far is Anthropologie.

Painful cut for Jermain as Cuffley loses its Klass

The village of Cuffley, Hertfordshire, has been dubbed “Millionaires’ Row” because so many of the rich and famous live there. However, its star could be dimmed by the news that two high-profile residents may be leaving.

Footballer Jermain Defoe recently lowered the asking price for his neo-Georgian mansion from £3.75 million to £3.17 million. The six-bedroom pad comes with a games room, a cinema and en suite dressing room. But, since it was first listed in March last year, the Tottenham Hotspur player has struggled to find a buyer. Meanwhile, Myleene Klass is said to be putting her nearby £3.2 million home on the market, following her surprise split from hubby Graham Quinn. She says it contains too many sad memories. Watch this space.

Virgin Pure - water filter device

Branson talks on water

Home broadband, mobile phones, airlines, trains — you name it, Richard Branson has a stake in it. Now he has turned his attention to water. He wants us all to have a filtering device at home called a Virgin Pure, costing between £299 and £379. He will connect the machine to our mains supply and then charge us up to £12 a month for it.

Little wonder this man is a billionaire. To be fair, his rather flash machine will deliver the H20 not only purified (the monthly charge is for the filters) but chilled, boiling, or at room temperature. Ten million UK households already buy bottled water rather than drink from the kitchen tap, he says, but will his latest venture prove as popular? Visit virgin-pure.com to find out more.
