Top prize at property awards

Homes & Property writer Ruth Bloomfield scooped the top prize at the LSL Property Press Awards this week

Bloomfield was chosen by a panel of industry experts as the 2010 Overall Property Journalist of the Year; she also won the National Freelance Journalist of the Year title. A property expert, Bloomfield writes both news stories and topical countrywide features for commuters.

David Spittles was highly commended in the category of National Freelance Journalist of the Year for his exhaustive knowledge of the London property market. Homes & Property was a finalist in the category of National Newspaper Property Supplement of the Year.

Mira Bar-Hillel, a regular Evening Standard journalist, was highly commended in the Property Scoop of the Year category for revealing the contents of a private letter written by Prince Charles to Evening Standard readers outlining his opposition to the initial design plans for London's Chelsea Barracks site.

The LSL Property Press Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of property journalists throughout the UK. The awards were announced on March 21, 2011, at a champagne reception at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge, attended by the cream of UK property journalists from national, provincial and trade press.
