British film studio Gainsborough Pictures was best known for its links with director Alfred Hitchcock. Some of the master’s most successful films, including 1956 suspense thriller The Man Who Knew Too Much, starring Doris Day were shot in the former power station in Hoxton.
The site is now occupied by 280 flats by architects Munkenbeck + Marshall, including a two-bedroom, two-bathroom home listed for £750,000 with The Modern House. One of the finest in the development, the flat is in the original part of the building. It retains its character while offering cool, contemporary interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows and views over Shoreditch Park towards City landmarks including the Shard.
