A place in the 2019/20 Champions League Final will be on the line when Lyon and Bayern Munich clash in Lisbon this evening.

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern now stand as the overwhelming favourites to win their first European title since 2013 and a sixth overall after Friday's stunning demolition of Barcelona.

Hansi Flick's side utterly humiliated the LaLiga giants with a ruthless display of attacking brilliance, with Thomas Muller, Ivan Perisic, Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich, Robert Lewandowski and even Philippe Coutinho all on target in an 8-2 rout.

Most expected that Manchester City would be up next for Bayern in a heavyweight one-legged semi-final contest, only for Pep Guardiola's men to be stunned by Lyon on Saturday evening to make it a pair of France vs Germany matches in the last four.

Moussa Dembele notched a brace after Kevin De Bruyne's equaliser had cancelled out an opener from Maxwel Cornet at the Estadio Jose Alvalade as Lyon reached the penultimate stage of European football's premier club competition for the first time in a decade and inflicted upon City a third quarter-final loss in succession.

PSG brushed aside RB Leipzig 3-0 to reach their maiden Champions League Final, so Neymar and Kylian Mbappe await either Lyon or Bayern this weekend.

Team news

Bayern are likely to remain without the services of versatile defender Benjamin Pavard, who suffered an ankle injury in training last month.

Meanwhile, Lyon look to have an almost entirely clean bill of health for this semi-final tie, though we will see in the days ahead if there were any notable knocks sustained in the win over City.

Prediction: Lyon 1-3 Bayern Munich

Fuelled by the sense of injustice felt at a seventh-placed Ligue 1 finish decided on a point-per-game basis following the early termination of the 2019/20 French top-flight season back in April, Lyon - who will need to win the Champions League to qualify for Europe next term - produced a considerable upset on Saturday for the second round running.

In knocking out both Juventus and City, Rudi Garcia's team have now proved themselves a highly dangerous outfit that should not be underestimated.

However, it is simply impossible to pick against a team as confident and incisive as Bayern after watching that 8-2 destruction of Barcelona.

The Bavarians are unbeaten in their last 19 matches across all competitions and have already scored a whopping 39 goals in just nine European outings this season, boasting considerable threats all over the pitch.

Expect Lyon to produce another valiant performance, but Bayern will surely have enough to set up a final date against PSG next weekend (August 23) at Benfica's Estadio da Luz.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

Lyon and Bayern have met competitively on eight previous occasions, with Bayern winning four of those matches.

Lyon have won two, with a pair of draws.
