Former Brazilian football star Ronaldinho is renting out his villa 30 minutes' from downtown Rio de Janeiro during this summer's World Cup tournament.
Here's a unique opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of the 20th FIFA World Cup in style - staying in the comfort of footballer Ronaldinho's palatial villa in Rio de Janeiro.

The Brazilian Atletico Mineiro star is renting out his main base on the edge of Rio in the first half of July during the World Cup football tournament while he travels to China.

The former World Footballer of the Year is currently living in the Belo Horizonte district, but his second home, half an hour from Rio's city centre and currently listed on short-term rental website Airbnb, measures 10,700sq ft, has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and a swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and sauna.

For an eye-watering £9,176 per night (plus a £551 service fee), guests will have access to the entire house, which features portraits of the star himself, and also boasts a home theatre, dine-in kitchen, wine cellar, fireplace, office, "zen room for massages or yoga", parking for up to three cars, an exclusive stage to enjoy a samba party with friends and a treehouse in the garden. The cost per night rises to £10,375 for four or more guests.

The flamboyant footballer has tweeted a photograph of the property from his @10Ronaldinho twitter account to confirm the authenticity of the property listing.

In a further message for prospective guests left on the Airbnb site, the footballer said: "I won't be in Rio during this period, but I will leave all instructions and recommendations with my personal team that will be ready to help whenever you need. Any other details can be arranged through messages here on Airbnb."

The details on the accommodation website also state that the home "will be available during the first half of July, and only inquiries from guests with complete, verified profiles will be considered."

The villa is located within a gated community in a new residential area and has 24-hour security. The closest beaches are a 10-minute drive away, while downtown Rio and the tournament's Maracanã Stadium is within a 30-minute drive.
