Up to 15,000 such homes are being built. Part of the appeal is that the rental package can include such extras as free, superfast wifi — almost as important as hot water for the Facebook generation — and free gym membership, plus hotel-inspired services.

Utility bills are often included, too, along with on-site launderettes and communal spaces where residents can meet up to socialise.

Tipi is part of the new district being built around Wembley Stadium, is the latest offering.
