The price of a one-bedroom flat ranges from £850 to £1,450 a month. For example, estate agent Websters (020 8892 3343) is renting a one-bedroom flat in Heath Road above a shop in Twickenham town centre for £850 a month, while Snellers has a one-bedroom flat in Thames Eyot, a mansion block overlooking the river for £1,450 a month.
There is a wider choice of two-bedroom flats, with prices ranging from £1,075 a month to £3,200 a month. Snellers has a two-bedroom flat in a Thirties block in Manor Road for £1,075 a month and at the other end of the spectrum The Corporate Letting Company (020 8948 0444) has a spacious two-bedroom flat in the Richmond Bridge development in Clevedon Road for £3,200 a month.
Four-bedroom houses are popular with families and student sharers at St Mary’s University and rents range from £2,200 a month to £11,000 a month. Estate agent Townends has a Thirties four-bedroom semi in Egerton Road for £2,200 a month, while The Corporate Letting Company has a modern four-bedroom house on the Thames at Ducks Walk for £11,000 a month.

One of the most interesting rentals is a four-bedroom Georgian house in Montpelier Row that Chase Buchanan is renting for £5,500 a month.
Buy-to-let investors earn an average of around five per cent on flats and around four per cent on houses.
