Kim Ward, the rental manager at John Payne, says that flats are popular with young professionals and couples working in Canary Wharf. “One-bedroom flats are very popular and we have an undersupply, and an oversupply of two-bedroom flats." One-bedroom rental properties typically cost between £1,100 and £1,500 a month.

There is also strong demand for shared houses for Greenwich’s student population, although many are forced by high rents to look further out. The new flats in the area are being sold largely to overseas investors.
