Hackney has an active rental market with three times as many homes to rent in the E8 post code as there are homes to buy, but it is no longer a cheap area. Renters expect to pay around £350 a week for a one-bedroom flat, £450-plus for a two-bedroom flat and between £800 and £1,000 a week for a house.

Natalie Hall, also from estate agent Fyfe McDade says this is not an area popular with “buy-to-let” investors as the yields are not high. Typical of homes to rent is a four-bedroom bungalow in Inglesham Walk, E9, for £430 a week.
