Hunt’s former Wimbledon home is on the market for £5.75 million and its current owner hopes the critically acclaimed movie, which is now in cinemas, will have buyers racing for viewings.
The F1 champion moved to Wimbledon in 1982 and lived there until his untimely death in 1993. He could often be spotted cycling to the BBC TV Centre (to comment on races alongside Murray Walker) or driving his Austin A35 van around the local area. Hunt was also a keen budgerigar breeder who kept some 300 birds in a specially constructed aviary in the back garden of his home.
The six-bedroom Arts and Crafts-style house, in a quiet residential road near Wimbledon Common, has more than 7,000sq ft of accommodation, including three reception rooms and a library. There is also an indoor pool, a garden room and plenty of space for cars.
