New homes in Finsbury Park:two 21-storey towers with more than 300 new flats, shops and a cinema wrapped around the station are due for completion in 2019

City North is is the largest regeneration scheme in Islington borough since Arsenal’s Emirates stadium project, bringing 308 new homes to the area.

Gritty Finsbury Park is one of the cheaper well-connected north London districts. In zone 2, it is a major transport interchange with two tube lines, overland rail and a bus station, but has suffered from under-investment.

However, more young families are discovering the plentiful stock of period houses as well as the refurbished Victorian park, which at 110 acres is bigger than St James’ Park and Green Park combined, with a boating lake, athletics stadium and tea pavilion.

And new-build apartments are enticing singles and couples who want to live in a place where they can feel the beat of the city.

City North, with 308 homes, is the largest regeneration scheme in Islington borough since Arsenal’s Emirates stadium project.

Due for completion in 2019, the scheme wraps around the bustling train station and will bring a tree-lined piazza at the base of two 21-storey towers, one with a roof garden, plus shops, restaurants, bars, cinema and gym.

Next door is a showpiece new arts centre and theatre, which has been built on a former industrial estate.
