Baba G’s, the Indian fast food concept that won an episode of My Million Pound Menu earlier this year, has announced it will open a permanent restaurant later this month.

The street food stall will open a 50-seater restaurant in Camden Market on May 24, the first bricks-and-mortar site in its 11-year history. The restaurant will also run a 50 per cent off soft launch offer until May 27.

The concept, best known for its Indian-influenced Bhangra Burgers, secured £300,000 of investment from Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar in an episode of the most recent series of the BBC2 reality show. This project will see Kochhar act, alongside co-star restaurateur Jamie Barber, as mentor to owners Alec Owen and Liz Selway.

The new restaurant is set to sell a selection of Baba G’s signature dishes. These include chicken tikka nuggets, pachos (a cross between nachos and poppadoms), and a range of Bhangra Burgers, including the lamb jalfrezi burger, which comes topped with an onion bhaji and dressed with both mango pulp and mint cumin raita.

New additions to the repertoire will include small plates of spiralised celeriac bhaji and lab raan and achaar croquettes.

The restaurant is set to feature a butchery counter where burger patties are made from scratch, an open kitchen with counter dining, and a hatch from which a shorter takeaway menu will be served. A cocktail menu will feature on spiced rum and old fashioneds, with drinks spiced with cardamom and chai.

Baba G's can currently also be found at street food market Pop Brixton and the new Vinegar Yard market in London Bridge.

Baba G’s will open on May 24 at 726 - 727 Camden Market’s North Yard, Camden, NW1 8AH. For more information, visit bhangraburger.com
