EuroMillions winner worth £105m says flashy cars are 'a waste of money' after buying second-hand motor

A lottery winner worth £105 million has decided to spend some of his cash on a second-hand car.

Builder Steve Thomson, 42, said he wouldn't want to splash out on an expensive car because they are a "waste of money".

It is the only purchase he and his wife Lenka, 41, have made since the win last month, which "still hasn't sunk in".

Mr Thomson, from Walberton, in West Sussex, told the Mirror of being on an "emotional rollercoaster" since the win.

He said: "It's been very stressful. I'm still not sleeping, I'm still not eating properly. It's a lot to take in."

The dad-of-three has continued working part-time to keep his head straight, saying: "I feel normal and that's how I want to stay. I'm trying to finish some jobs before Christmas.

"I won't be able to finish all of them, but I'm doing what I can between meetings.

"I have got to finish the jobs I have got on. I said I am going to do the jobs, so I've got to, I can't go back on my word."

He added: "My main priority is Christmas, then trying to find somewhere to live. And then my three main commitments are family, friends, community – that's it.

Mrs Thomson quit her job at the convenience store where she worked, and the family plan to move out of their three-bedroom home after Christmas.
