Mum's the word at Kristen's new Malibu home

What’s a girl to do when moving out of a pad she shared with her ex-boyfriend? Move in with her mother, of course. After splitting up with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart (right) has asked her mum, Jules Mann Stewart, to be her housemate at a £2.98 million Malibu retreat she has bought.

Jules recently filed for divorce from Kristen’s father John Stewart after a 27-year marriage, so it was the right timing for her.

The three-storey, 5,800sq ft property has plenty of privacy as it is surrounded by thick landscaping and has a guest house, which is in a distinctive oval shape. It is ultra-modern, with a glass and steel structure and walls painted mint-green.

But with John Stewart reported to have persuaded Robert to take back his daughter, who appears in movie On the Road on October 12, it may be a bit soon for mum to get out the paintbrush.

The Duke of Buccleuch's estate has the X Factor

Boughton house is in the spotlight following a glamorous appearance on the X Factor. The magnificent estate was the chosen location for Cheryl Cole’s surprise return to the ItV show, as a guest mentor alongside gary Barlow for the Judges’ houses episode.

Arriving by helicopter, Cheryl was given a grand welcome to the Duke of Buccleuch’s residence in Northamptonshire. Dubbed, “the English Versailles”, its seven courtyards, 12 entrances, 52 chimney stacks and 365 windows have a distinctly French flavour.

Ralph 1st Duke of Montagu, who inherited the property in 1683, is responsible for much of the design and, as ambassador to Louis XIV, was influenced by the Sun King. If you fancy seeing the regal home for yourself, it is open to groups by appointment (boughtonhouse.org.uk).

There's no place like our old home, say Lawson boys

Hot new boyband Lawson have already had two hit singles. Their debut, When She Was Mine, tells the story of the break-up of lead singer Andy Brown (right) with The Saturdays star Mollie King, before her relationship with model David Gandy.

But rather than naming their upcoming album after past or current romances, they have dedicated it to their former flat. Chapman Square, due for release on October 22, is named after the development in Wimbledon Village, which the heart-throbs used to call home.

If they feel that attached to their previous address, they should snap up a couple of the properties currently for sale in the impressive block. John D Wood & Co has a three-bedroom, first-floor apartment on the market for £649,950. It comes with a balcony and a concierge service A fitting way for Lawson to spend their earnings from the record.

CJ's really on song at his new theatreland pad

BBC2’s Eggheads panellist CJ de Mooi and his civil partner Andrew Cox, a costume designer on Ray Winstone and Plan B’s new film the sweeney, have dramatic new living arrangements. Keen to be in the heart of theatreland, the pair are renting a one-bedroom apartment on top of tottenham Court Road’s famous Dominion theatre.

CJ, who plays the lead in the Pirates of Penzance at the Brookside theatre, Romford, from september 24, tells me: “I’m after a part in We Will Rock You [the Dominion’s current hit] — I could roll out of bed and be on stage in three minutes.”

The couple are selling their £525,000 five-bedroom converted barn and stables in Wales.
