What Katie did for her bosom buddy
Best friends don’t come much more generous than former glamour model Katie Price. The recently single gal has opened her home to her pal, pregnant singer Michelle Heaton and her husband Hugh Hanley. “They’re waiting to move into their new house so it’s great,” says the reality TV show star, now a mum of three. And there are perks: “They’re always cooking for me.”
There is plenty of space for the guests in the £2 million country pile in West Sussex. The mansion, set in 53 acres, has a drawing room, dining room, family room, cloakroom and triple garage. Katie won’t be disturbed in her glamorous en-suite master bedroom as each of the five smaller bedrooms comes with an adjoining bathroom.
It is little wonder that former Liberty X singer Michelle is keen to spend time in the bells-and-whistles kitchen — it looks out over the landscaped gardens and sprawling meadows.
The house has such good security and so many CCTV cameras, Katie calls it Inspector Gadget.com. She has just launched her 45th book — Santa Baby.
Desperate Housewives gardener Jesse is ready to make a move
Hollywood heart-throb Jesse Metcalfe is selling his Beverly Hills home for £1.37 million. The actor, 32, bought the three-bedroom, three-bathroom Mediterranean-style house for the same price in 2008 but he is so keen to sell that he is not even looking to make a profit.
He is best known for his role as the resident hunky gardener in Desperate Housewives — and the outside area at his home doesn’t disappoint. Perfect for sunny days and warm evenings, it has a hot tub, waterfall, koi pond and built-in barbecue.
Jesse had a five-bedroom house in Beachwood Canyon, LA from 2004 to 2008 which he sold for just under £1 million, as well as a two-bedroom Sunset Drive house he sold to That 70s Show actor Topher Grace (aka Eric).
Jesse will be back on our screens early next year with one of the lead roles in the much-anticipated new series of Dallas on Channel 5. Could a Southfork-style Texas ranch be next on his investment list?
Joanna's East Sussex seat
If your home is lacking a little stardust, an online celebrity auction may be the answer. A host of high-profile names have donated personal items to Sellebrity (sellebrity.org.uk) in aid of charity, and there are some great pieces up for grabs.
Joanna Lumley’s chair from her days at St Mary’s Convent School (1957-1963) in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, is my favourite. It comes with two little tags with hand-written messages from the actress.
All money raised goes to the Prince’s Trust. Hurry, bidding ends on next Monday, November 21.
Less West End and more Wales for Beatles' favourite
Victor Spinetti, who was The Beatles’ favourite actor, is letting his London home. Spinetti, who starred in all three of the band’s films at George Harrison’s request, has put his one-bedroom, one-bathroom central London flat on the rental market with Andrew Roberts for £400 a week (020 7395 0595; andrew-roberts.com).
As well as major film roles, Spinetti has had a successful theatre career. A Royal Shakespeare Company stalwart, he has also appeared in a string of West End and Broadway hits and worked with stage royalty, from Orson Welles to Peter Sellers.
At 78, he is still busy working but the Tony Award winner wants to spend more time with his family in Wales.
The West End pad is a stone’s throw from Leicester Square station — great for theatreland. And if only walls could talk — because superstars Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor were friends of Welsh-born Spinetti’s and both regular visitors at his flat.
