John Cleese is returning to London after spending less than a year living in the tax haven of Monaco. The Monty Python star, 73, has been cooped up in a luxurious apartment overlooking the harbour in the billionaires’ hideaway, busily penning his memoirs.

But views of the Mediterranean have proved no match for the roar of London traffic, so Cleese is moving back to the Chelsea home he shares with wife Jennifer Wade, 42, (pictured) near busy King’s Road.

Cleese bought the London house for £1.45 million in 2010 following a financially crippling divorce from third wife, American psychotherapist Alyce Faye Eichelberger.

The Fawlty Towers actor also owns a home in the glorious Royal Crescent in Bath. So who needs the French Riviera, anyway?
