Live like golfer Darren for just £14,000 a month
Darren Clarke is the man of the moment in the golfing world but with the British Open champion’s main base in Ireland, he is letting his Surrey family home with Barton Wyatt (bartonwyatt.co.uk) for £14,000 a month.
Only 2.5 miles from the hub of Virginia Water, the six-bedroom property has grand electric wrought-iron gates, while the front door opens to a spectacular galleried hall. There is a master bedroom suite with his-and-hers dressing rooms and bathrooms, and a fabulous kitchen/breakfast room and gym. With a triple garage and its own cinema, there’s also a great suite of guest rooms in the annexe.

Writing on the wall for Emmerdale star
Actress Adele Silva is best known for her role as sultry Kelly Windsor in ITV’s Emmerdale. But these days her main focus is her blossoming film career. Work commitments, including new Brit flick How to Stop Being a Loser (released October 3), which also stars Richard E Grant, Sheridan Smith and Billy Murray, have seen her spend an increasing amount of time in London.
Nevertheless, she has no regrets about buying a two-bedroom, two- bathroom apartment in Leeds, a short commute from the Emmerdale set. “Though I only spend half my time there these days it was definitely a good investment. I bought it in 2007 for £250,000 and have no plans to sell it any time soon,” she tells me.
The 30-year-old has gone for a French vintage look for her silver-and-grey singleton pad and has used very posh hand-printed Cole and Son wallpapers. “I also have a wall in my hall that has customised graffiti art,” she reveals. Very urban chic.

Saturday Kitchen’s Rachel is cooking up a book and wants your favourite recipes
It is no surprise that the celebrity chef and BBC Saturday Kitchen favourite Rachel Allen loves her kitchen best of all the rooms in her home. “It has a big Aga and is very bright and airy,” she tells me. “Everyone always seems to end up there.”
Currently on the lookout for new recipe ideas for her upcoming Kerrygold Community Cookbook (submit yours at facebook.com/KerrygoldUK), Allen lives with her husband Isaac, three children and a menagerie of animals on a farm at Ballymaloe in Ireland.
“We designed and built the house to our own style and spec for £350,000,” she says. The white-painted house, in two acres, overlooks Ballycotton Bay and Allen hopes to extend next year “for more bedrooms and an office”.
