Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher has signed a new long-term contract with the club after agreeing to join West Brom on loan.

The England Under-21 international will link up with Slaven Bilic's side for the 2020/21 season after finalising terms on a temporary move.

The 20-year-old has also penned a new deal which will keep him at Stamford Bridge for many years to come, although Chelsea did not disclose the exact length of the contract.

Gallagher impressed in the Championship last season, having spent the first part of the season with Charlton Athletic before moving on to Swansea in January.

Despite interest from Leeds United and appearing to be on the verge of a move to Crystal Palace at one point, Gallagher said West Brom's style of play was a factor in choosing them over other clubs.

“There was a lot of interest from the Premier League, which is where I wanted to play this season, but this is where I want to be,” he told the club's official website.

“West Brom stood out to me because of the way they played last season. I played against them two or three times and I liked how they approached the game.

"I felt that it would suit me and it would be best for my development. I felt it could help me become the player I want to be and I’m pleased to get this agreement sorted.”

He will join Branislav Ivanovic, another player familiar to Chelsea, in moving to the Hawthorns after the 36-year-old arrived on a free transfer from Zenit St Petersburg.
