Life is no longer a beach for Charlize
Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is spending lots of time in London as she works on Ridley Scott’s highly-anticipated thriller Prometheus, now being filmed at Pinewood Studios.
But the South African beauty also has a big project vying for her attention in California - the sale of her Malibu Beach house. Charlize at first listed the three-bedroom, three-bathroom pad at £4.6 million but, despite its perfect location, she has recently taken £300,000 off the asking price in an attempt to interest a buyer.
Just steps from the sand, the house has a cool-toned interior with bursts of plum on its linen upholstery providing the colour. It is all light wood and white linen in Charlize’s bedroom, too, and her bathroom has a lounging tub that looks out over the ocean. Come on, buyers, it’s worth every penny.
Justin's long goodbye to his LA lad pad
Going The Distance star Justin Long hasn’t got far selling his home. The Hollywood actor, who regularly hits the headlines for his on/off relationship with actress-turned-director Drew Barrymore (both pictured), just can’t seem to shift the three-bedroom, four-bathroom Los Angeles house.
After two price reductions, it’s on the market for just over £1 million. Surrounded by palm trees, the property has the Mediterranean styling usually certain to lure eager viewers. Do they detect bad karma?
Mel is a stay-at-home mum to be
Pregnant Spice Girl Mel B plans to work from home in the months before her baby is due. She will be songwriting for her new album in the private recording studio at her Los Angeles pad.
It sounds like the mother of two has little reason to leave her luxury house. With the help of husband Stephen Belafonte, she has designed a movie theatre and games room.
The couple are also building an indoor-outdoor dining area for entertaining friends. More sophisticated than Scary, then.
Nicky reveals how to make a room look 10 years younger
Personal stylist Nicky Hambleton-Jones has revealed she has a “secret passion” for interior design.
The 10 Years Younger TV presenter told me: “I am always thinking about how I can improve my Victorian terrace house in Battersea. We’re about to renovate the ground floor to make it a more open, child-friendly space and I can’t wait to put all my ideas into action.”
And guess what? The makeover rules for rooms are the same as for people. “I’m always on at the girls we train in my Style Academy (nhjstyle.com) to think about what the focal point of an outfit is. It’s the same with rooms. There’s always a focal point - a bold colour, striking wallpaper, or a piece of fabulous fabric - and you need a few good-quality purchases among the affordable basics.”
'How I found ideas for my gootiful gathroom'
With a nationwide tour scheduled for the summer, TV ventriloquist Paul Zerdin has a busy few months ahead but has found time to give the downstairs bathroom in his three-bedroom 1880s cottage in Merton Park a makeover.
“It now has big sandstone tiles and a walk-in shower,” he tells me. “Having gigged for the expats in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing, I picked up my ideas from some of the beautiful hotels I’ve stayed in.”
Paul likes to entertain at home, too: thrilling his guests with impromptu performances with puppet Sam. “I am always having friends to stay and I love cooking for them,” he says. His dream area is Wimbledon Village, by the Common, just off Camp View. “It is as though you are in the country but you’re only 20 minutes from Waterloo.”
