All John needs now is his UK base

With Duran Duran’s All You Need Is Now world tour well under way, are the boys feeling homesick?

“I like being on tour,” bassist John Taylor tells me from his New York hotel suite. “But I do miss my own bed and my family. I don’t think I have been at home for my daughter’s birthday for about five years, but she gets it. When you are a musician, unless you want to be in the house band for We Will Rock You, you have to accept life away.”

John has been based in LA for 19 years now, but he also has a home in Britain — a grand Wiltshire manor house which he bought in 2005 together with his wife, Gela Nash Taylor, co-founder of the Juicy Couture fashion label. “It means I can commute into London from there when I am working with the band in England,” he says.

Tara’s Chelsea pad is off-limits for her Latino lover

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson may be smitten with her new and rather secret Latino lover but he had better not have any plans to move into her Chelsea apartment.

The 39-year-old socialite has said that she adores her glamorous pad and doesn’t want to share it with anyone. With a walk-in closet full of designer frocks and a tranquil roof terrace that was given a sophisticated makeover by her mother — now who wouldn’t want to keep that private?

Patrick is in love with his Marigolds

Maida Vale resident Patrick Cox is best known for his stunning shoe collections but he recently branched into culinary creativity to launch trendy Soho bakery Cox, Cookies and Cakes, and design the Kenco Millicano Cake Pop with the renowned French pâtissier Eric Lanlard.

So what design venture can we expect from him next? Interiors? “I do all my housework and DIY,” he tells me. “I’m hands-on — it’s my home and I don’t have a decorator. It’s a very eclectic representation of my life.”

It’s New York life for Ben and Christine

Ben Stiller and wife Christine Taylor are rumoured to be swapping LA for New York as they put their Hollywood home on the market for £7 million. The couple bought the huge spread, with 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms shared between a main house, guest house and an apartment, in 1999.

The property was first listed for £7.6 million in 2009 but was taken off the market after two months. However, it looks like Ben means business this time. The comedy actor is said to be so confident of a quick sale he has packed all his belongings.
