East Dulwich skinny house - 10ft wide and on sale for £800,000

A house measuring just 120 inches wide is for sale in the south-east London neighbourhood of East Dulwich.

A 10ft-wide house in the south London neighbourhood of East Dulwich has hit the market for £800,000.

The skinny home in Barry Road, SE22, is sandwiched between two larger and more traditional properties, and is within walking distance of Peckham Rye and Common.

While the width of the property barely extends beyond 120 inches throughout, the long and narrow living space over two floors stretches to 800sq ft, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and coveted off-street parking.

Inside, a long and narrow reception room leads to a galley-style kitchen and a private rear garden.

The asking price puts the two-bedroom home in the £1,000-plus per square foot bracket, highlighting the rising popularity of homes in the trendy enclaves of Dulwich, East Dulwich and Dulwich Village.

A recent report shows this part of London emerged as the top spot in the capital for house price growth, after recording an increase of 863 per cent over the past 20 years.

Local house prices have shot up by 53 per cent in the last three years alone, thanks to the neighbourhood's impressive transport links to key London stations, including nine-minute train journeys to Victoria and 22-minute journeys to King's Cross from Herne Hill, with regular services to London Bridge (17 minutes) from North Dulwich and East Dulwich stations.

Other narrow houses that have hit the market in recent years include a 99-inch skinny house in Denmark Hill and a luxury family home in Clapham that spans just 90 inches across, priced at £450,000 and £800,000 respectively.
