Cheap fares boost for holiday home owners

Many owners will be able to visit their overseas homes more easily this year thanks to a range of new flights from London airports

This month CityJet begins flying daily - except for Saturdays - from London City Airport to Florence, allowing an easy city-to city trip that avoids lengthy transfers at Pisa. Single fares start at £79.

British Airways is also expanding its leisure flights from London City. From June passengers can fly to Malaga in southern Spain and Faro on the Portuguese Algarve up to four times a week. Single fares will start at £75. In March BA restarts it summer services from Docklands to Majorca and Ibiza, with 40 per cent more seats than last year.

At Gatwick, the airline is challenging its low-cost rivals with £69 flights to Marrakech, tipped to be a top visitor destination this year. From March 27, British Airways will fly three times a week to the Moroccan city.

New Easyjet flights from Gatwick this March include Izmir in Turkey, Verona and Bologna in Italy and Seville in Andalusian. Single fares start from £29.99.
