Gareth Bale to Tottenham: Real Madrid star's agent confirms transfer talks over sensational return

The agent of Gareth Bale has confirmed the forward's desire to re-join Tottenham and revealed talks are ongoing between the club and Real Madrid over a sensational return.

Standard Sport understands Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is exploring the possibility of bringing Bale back to north London on loan - seven years after selling him to the Spanish giants for £85million.

It is understood a loan deal is in the pipeline for the 31-year-old but remains dependent on Real paying a sizeable proportion of his reported £600,000-a-week wages.

Bale, who has won the Champions League four times and collected two LaLiga winners' medals since moving to the Spanish capital, has been frozen out of the first-team fold by Real coach Zinedine Zidane.

Despite declaring back in February that the Wales international would be unlikely to return to north London, Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has now claimed he wants to link up with his former club again.

"Gareth still loves Spurs," Barnett told BBC Sport Wales.

"We are talking [Spurs, Real and Bale's camp]. It's where he wants to be."

Spurs are also working on a £25m transfer that would see Bale's team-mate, Sergio Reguilon, head to north London, although Manchester United are also interested in the full-back.

Jose Mourinho has already signed Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty from Southampton and Wolves respectively this summer.

But it seems the Portuguese is keen to further strengthen his squad after watching his side fall to a 1-0 home defeat to Everton on the opening day of the new Premier League season.
