A former car showroom has been bulldozed to make way for Park View, occupying a prominent corner site overlooking Burgess Park, a 140-acre green tract. London & Quadrant housing association is offering three- and four-bedroom flats priced from £540,000, or £135,000 for a  25 per cent shared-ownership stake. Call 020 8128 2515.

And housing charity Peabody has launched 16 flats in Coopers Road, priced from £345,000 and eligible for Help to Buy low deposits. Call 020 8502 5758.

The new opportunity area covers Old Kent Road and land either side, a hotchpotch of Victorian terraces, council estates, warehouses and light-industrial premises. There are distant plans for a Bakerloo line extension too.
