Buyers are waking up to Stepney’s convenient location. The area is equidistant between the City and Canary Wharf, close to two Tube stations and walkable from the nightlife and restaurants of Shoreditch and Spitalfields.

This part of London oozes history and is sprinkled with conservation areas and pockets of green space, while the upgraded Regent’s Canal and Mile End Park, which received funding from the Millennium Commission around the turn of the century, are well-used spaces. Thoughtful new architecture is enlivening this inner-city district. Regeneration of a council estate at Stepney Green has paved the way for Vivo, a bright “new” 462-home neighbourhood, where rental company Fizzy Living is offering flats for rent from £1,460 per month. And here, too is So Stepney, a development of new flats and maisonettes, including apartments in a handsome converted Victorian school, pictured. Prices from £449,950. Call Bellway on 0845 459 5021.
