Kidderpore Green is the sensitive redevelopment of a college campus in Hampstead that has yielded 128 new Arts and Crafts-style homes.

Working within the conservation area constraints, architect Allies Morrison had to balance the different urban contexts of the site, bounded on one side by bustling Finchley Road and sedate Kidderpore Avenue on the other.

A former library is being converted into apartments, while Hampstead School of Art, founded by Henry Moore, gets a new contemporary-design pavilion.

Barratt has unveiled a new phase of townhouses and apartments, with prices from £675,000. Call 020 7472 0090.

Conservation area: redeveloped college campus

Nearby Hampstead Manor is another college redevelopment, with 156 homes spread across 13 buildings, five of which are listed.

The estate has the cloistered feel of an Oxbridge college — tranquil and comforting — and includes a chapel and a magnificent mansion built by an East India Company merchant, for sale as a shell for transformation into a single residence.

Grand apartments in new and converted red-brick blocks start at £747,500 and rise to over £3 million. There’ll be underground parking, a spa and a gym, and a shuttle service will be provided to local train and Tube stations. Call 020 3930 5133.
