There is no shorter overland rail commute to the City from a Zone 2 location than from colourful New Cross.

Regular trains to London Bridge from both train stations take just six minutes. Yet property prices here are still within reach of many lower-budget first-time buyers.

New-build developers have discovered New Cross, pushing the Bakerloo line extension south from Elephant and Castle as a good reason to invest early in this area.
