Liverpool team news

The Reds will still be without Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, who both missed the win over Chelsea, as well as Jordan Henderson, who was forced off at half-time in that game.

Man City team news

Guardiola has confirmed that he will field mostly academy players against Bournemouth - a game that comes just three days after that hard-fought win at Wolves - as he seeks to keep his key senior stars fresh for the Premier League challenges ahead.

City's ranks have been depleted by the absences of Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, Eric Garcia, Aleks Zinchenko and Aymeric Laporte, while Ilkay Gundogan is currently self-isolating after becoming the club's third player to test positive for coronavirus over recent weeks.

Man City 0-0 Bournemouth

James Robson is at the Etihad

An eventful few minutes there. City have been extremely slick, which only endorses the work being done at youth level.

The club’s vision is for teams of all age groups to play the same way and that’s what happening here, despite so many changes.

Delap’s opener was a cracker. Brilliant pass from Foden, who is dictating things and a lethal finish.

But credit to Bournemouth. Their equaliser was decent too. Surridge’s spinning shot evening it up.

GOAL! | Man City 1-1 Bournemouth | Sam Surridge 22'

Great response!

This is a good finish, too, Surridge with his back to goal but arrowing into the far corner on the swivel. Game on.

GOAL! | Man City 1-0 Bournemouth | Liam Delap 18'

Brilliant!

A debut goal for Liam Delap and it's quite the finish, too. Old man Phil Foden's pass is fantastic to get him in behind and then the 17-year-old guides a terrific effort into the top corner.

GOAL! | Lincoln 0-2 Liverpool | Takumi Minamino 18'

This is almost as good as the first one! The ball breaks to Minamino 25 yards from goal and he curls a sumptuous, first-time effort right up where the spiders live. Corker.

24 September 2020

Man City 0-0 Bournemouth

14 mins: Lots of early possession for City as you'd expect, and Ferran Torres has gone closest to opening the scoring, denied from a tight angle by Travers.

Bournemouth have done okay, though, and Sam Surridge has had a half decent opening.

Man City 0-0 Bournemouth

James Robson is at the Etihad

Delap is the player City fans will be excited to see tonight. He’s developing reputation as one to watch in the academy. This is a big step up for him, so it will be fascinating to see how he responds.

24 September 2020

GOAL! | Lincoln 0-1 Liverpool | Xherdan Shaqiri 9'

What. A. Goal.

A special, special free-kick from Shaqiri, fierce, curling, in off the bar. Could be a long night for Lincoln.

24 September 2020

Lincoln 0-0 Liverpool

3 mins: Some nice early touches for young Rhys Williams at the back which will not doubt help settle the nerves as he slots in alongside Virgil van Dijk.

KICK-OFF!

We are underway at the Etihad and at the LNER Stadium...

24 September 2020

It's been a rather upset-free round of fixtures so far, with Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea all breezing through and Tottenham getting there too, albeit in slightly different circumstances.

Can Lincoln or Bournemouth give us some drama?
