A whole new neighbourhood at Portobello Square

Bordering fashionable Notting Hill, the regeneration of a Seventies council estate will bring 1,000 new homes, 20 shops, new streets and better links to Ladbroke Grove.
Portobello Square, pictured, is an alluringly named new address. Bordering fashionable Notting Hill, it seeks to reinvent a "lost" neighbourhood with the creation of up to 1,000 homes and reinstatement of the area's original Victorian street pattern.
Lying at the northern end of Portobello Road, for more than 40 years the patch has been known as Wornington Green. Regeneration of a Seventies council estate has provided the opportunity for change. As well as new private homes, there are 20 shop units in Portobello Road, while new streets will provide better links with Ladbroke Grove.

Prices lag 30 per cent behind homes a 10-minute walk south in the heart of Notting Hill, according to estate agent Hamptons International, which has unveiled a collection of contemporary-design townhouses. Prices from £2 million. Call 020 7758 8478.
