Hot homes: get two-bedrooms for £250,000 or less

We take a property tour across the capital to find two-bedroom flats for less than the three per cent stamp duty threshold of £250,000.
Flats are the property stars of London. New research from Halifax reveals these types of homes have increased in value the most during the last decade.

But it's two-bedroom flats that have the real X-factor, thanks to fast-rising values and continual strong demand. Buyers who look beyond central London will discover homes close to good transport links in Zone 2 and 3 districts that can still be found under the stamp duty threshold of £250,000.

Robert Cornthwaite, the sales manager of Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward's Streatham branch, says: “As the first-time buyer market hots up, low-priced stock has become increasingly sought after. However, first-time buyers are now also competing with investors who realise the value which these homes offer, both in terms of long-term capital growth and shorter-term rental yields.”

We take a property tour to discover two-bedroom flats, maisonettes and new-build apartments in well-connected neighbourhoods.
