Hot homes: by the seaside for less than £500,000

It's all about the staycation this year and the annual exodus from London has already begun. We take a property tour of Dorset, Devon and Cornwall to find seaside homes for less than £500,000.
Two thirds of us are taking a holiday in the UK this year, according to a survey by hotel chain Travelodge. A great summer has boosted numbers heading for staycation coastal resorts and picture-postcard fishing villages — with prices for homes in popular seaside towns rising steadily along with the earning power of holiday lets.

We tour Dorset, Devon and Cornwall to find beachfront bungalows, seaside cottages and lock-up-and-leave coastal retreats — all for under £500,000.

£300,000: Port Isaac, Cornwall
A delightfully cosy Grade II-listed Cornish cottage overlooking st Isaac's old harbour, with stunning views to Roscarrock Hill and out to sea. The two-bedroom character home needs modernising but with this stunning location, it will be a real labour of love.
