Watford's new loft-style homes for first-time buyers:former Vogue printers transformed into starter flats priced from £260k

Once the printers of fashion bible Vogue, Rembrandt House now houses 43 loft-style flats with high ceilings and big windows.

Long before Sir Elton John put Watford on the map by buying the football club, the town, last stop on the Tube branch line, was familiar with the world of celebrity and glamour through the pages of Vogue.

Along with other glossies, the fashion bible was printed at Rembrandt House, a handsome red-brick Edwardian factory that is being converted into 43 loft-style flats with high ceilings and big windows.

It is the latest project of Henley Homes. The niche builder’s recent developments include a listed Sixties school in Kennington and a Victorian hospital in Clapham. Now the company is pushing into outer travel zones with stylish, value-added apartments for first-timer buyers working in London.

Watford is a hinge between London and Hertfordshire at the end of the Metropolitan line.

Prices from £265,000. Call agent Sewell & Gardner on 020 7368 4830.
