A Toronto-based charity has shared an unseen photo of the Duchess of Sussex volunteering in their soup kitchen during her days working on Suits.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry selected the St. Felix Centre as one of their 12 charities to feature on their Instagram in December as a homage to those who help "the lonely, hungry and homeless".

On Saturday the charity posted an old picture of the former actress wearing a baseball cap amid a group of volunteers.

In the caption, the charity revealed that Meghan was an "active supporter and volunteer" during her time living in Toronto as she filmed the hit TV series in the city.

"She volunteered on a regular basis in our kitchen as part of our Community Meals Program," the caption read.

"The Duchess also donated food from the set of Suits, and on one Thanksgiving she brought in all the food, turkeys and the fixings for over 100 people."

They went on to say that many volunteers have "fond memories" of when she volunteered and that the Duchess became known as "the lovely Meghan".

Last week, Meghan and Harry urged their Instagram followers to reflect on the "lonely, hungry and homeless" this Christmas.

They posted photos from charitable accounts inspired by the "Twelve Days of Christmas".

The Duchess of Sussex volunteered with the charity while living in Canada and working on the TV series.

She spent time at the soup kitchen to hand out leftover food from the set.
