Transport for London has unveiled a new uniform for staff in the first update for a decade.

The new outfit was created by leading designer Wayne Hemingway, co-founder of label Red or Dead, with input from London Underground, Overground and rail employees.

The designs use the TfL logo across the various tops and bottoms, appearing on pockets, jacket cuffs and zip pulls.

They were trialled over six weeks last year and the final uniform was introduced this week following suggestions from more than 200 staff.

Transport for London said the new kit would allow customers to easily identify staff and that the designs reflected the diversity of its workforce.

Nick Brown, London Underground’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “This new modern uniform has been developed hand-in-hand with our staff, and reflects both our heritage and our diversity. The new designs will help give our customers an even better service by making our staff instantly recognisable to them.

“This is just one element of our work to modernise Tube and rail services, from the way our customers are served, to introducing London’s first 24 hour Tube service.

"This and continuous improvements we are making to stations, accessibility and train frequencies is helping create a network fit for the 21st century city we serve.”
