Detectives are seeking a man who was spotted “walking around Whitechapel naked” on the morning of a woman’s death.
Tiparat Argatu, 43, died from neck and head injuries at a property in Ellen Street, east London.
She was found dead by police just after 8am on Sunday.
The Thai national had moved to London in September last year to be with her husband, the Metropolitan Police said.
David Cheres, 19, who is thought to have known the victim but is not related to her, has been charged with murder.
Nobody else is being sought in connection with the death.
However, detectives are now appealing to any witnesses who may have seen a man with no clothes on in the area that same morning.
The naked man is believed to have been walking around Whitechapel between 4am and 9am.
Detectives wish to speak with anyone who saw this man, or who found clothing discarded near to the scene in Ellen Street, Scotland Yard said in a statement.
Cheres, of Ellen Street, appeared at the Old Bailey last week and is next due at the same court on April 16.
