Two 16-year-old boys have been charged with murder after a “kind and thoughtful” north London college student was stabbed to death.
Anas Mezenner, 17, was found with knife wounds on West Green Road, near Turnpike Lane station, just after 9pm on Tuesday.
Medics and police officers performed roadside CPR before the teenager was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4.25am.
Anas had been studying media at college in Islington after completing his GCSEs and dreamed of becoming a pilot, his family told the Standard.
The two teenage suspects were arrested on January 20.
They were charged early on Friday morning with murder and possession of points and blades and were due to appear at North London Magistrates' Court later in the day.
Paying tribute to her son, Anas’s mother told the Standard: “He was a lovely boy who had done nothing wrong. He dreamed of being a pilot.”
His brother said: “He was always watching documentaries on flying, that was what he wanted to do.
“Legends always die young.”
Detective Chief Inspector Jane Topping, leading the investigation, said: “My deepest sympathy is with Anas’ family.
“This is a tragic loss of a young man who was known to be kind and thoughtful, who was enrolled in a local college with a bright future.
“It is a tragic and senseless loss of life. I would appeal to anyone with any information about this murder to share it with the investigation team.”
