A Metropolitan Police sergeant has been charged with sexually assaulting a female colleague.

David Morton, 54, of the Met Detention Command, was charged on 3 July with sexual assault on a female member of staff at police premises in Hackney on October 15 last year.

He has been bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on September 28 2020.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said Morton had been placed on restricted duties.
