Man fighting for his life following alleged assault in Islington

A man was fighting for his life today after he suffered critical head injuries in an alleged assault.

The 28-year-old was discovered by officers who were on their regular patrol at 8.15am on Saturday in York Way in Islington.

Paramedics were called and the man was rushed to an east London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A 24 year old man was arrested later on Saturday and charged with grievous bodily harm.

He was due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today.

Scotland Yard is appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call them on 101 and ask for Islington CID.
