Take a shine to silver tableware

One of the most exciting young makers is recent graduate Adi Toch, who describes working in silver as both "dynamic and challenging". She creartes intriguing vessels that contain inner moving parts.

"I am fascinated by the tension between symmetrical and irregular forms," she says. "I create tactile vessels that invite the observer to touch and explore." Her cutaway double-decker bowl (below) makes a perfect dish for strawberries, with the whipped cream on top.

Heather O' Connor also has an innovative approach. The six sterling silver shot glasses on a walnut stand/presentation tray of her "Drunk" set, have small hidden features in the base that slot into the stand, holding them upright and "sober". Once removed and their contents consumed, the glasses sit at angles when placed on a table, thus appearing "drunk".

The small carved silver cherub resting on the edge of Victoria Coleman's sterling silver cup and saucer is similarly precariously perched. Coleman's designs include plates and vases with stretched lacy silver patterned inserts, while Esther Lord offers folded and scored silver vases. Designed as pairs or trios of towers, each vase is both functional and sculptural and works alone or in combination.

Other pieces include Louise Cheshire's folded and scored silver-leaf platters and Rebecca Joselyn's silver beakers and vases, like crumpled paper. All have work on show linked to British Silver Week.
