Avid gardeners and budding bakers can have it all this September as Highgrove House and Gardens, the private residence of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, opens its doors once again for Tetbury's annual food festival (September 17-21, 2014).
On September 18, Highgrove's Orchard Restaurant will host the Fabulous Baker Brothers Garden Tour & Supper, which includes a 90-minute tour of the gorgeous gardens.
Take a stroll through the wild and formal gardens and work up an appetite as you wander around the walled kitchen garden, where you may even spot the chefs collecting the fresh root vegetables for your supper.
The intimate sundial garden sits adjacent to the house at Highgrove
Following the tour, guests will return to the terrace for champagne and canapés, before sitting down to a two-course menu of Severn and Wye hot-smoked salmon rillette served with the Baker Brothers' very own freshly-baked sour dough bread.
Slow braised rump of beef in Uley ale will be matched with Highgrove's organic Mâcon Davayé or a fine Claret. Or, sample freshly-foraged produce from the kitchen garden, from seasonal squash risotto cakesto delicious Cerney Ash Goat Cheese and warm-roasted red onion salad.
The engaging Baker Brothers, one a baker, the other a chef and butcher, will be on hand to share their love of food and the importance of supporting our local producers, while you devour sweets and pastries from the Hobbs House Bakery.
