Call of Duty cheaters on PC are a huge problem for PS4 cross-players

Along with the unfair advantage of keyboard and mouse, PS4 players are dealing with prolific cheating

Call of Duty has a major problem with cheating and console players are suffering too with their cross-play functionality.

According to Infinity Ward, the developers behind Call of Duty, at least 70,000 people have already been banned from Call of Duty: Warzone for using aimbots and other cheating tools.

There will always be cheaters in multiplayer games online but it's never really been a problem on the PlayStation because of the lengths you'd have to go to enabling cheating software.

Standard Modern Warfare multiplayer of course has a problem with this, but even the battle royale mode for the online Call of Duty game is suffering.

Infinity Ward has acknowledged the cheating and said: "We are watching. We have zero-tolerance for cheaters".

You don't have to look far online to see people complaining about how prevalent and brazen the cheating is and seems you can't properly report people you see cheating.

It's pretty easy to tell if someone is using an aimbot or a hack that lets you see where your enemies are behind walls for example, because paying attention to the death replay will show clearly how they knew where you were.

Here are some examples of the cheats being used.

There's a lot of comments on Reddit about the cheaters.

Obviously, you barely stand a chance when someone else is cheating and it takes all fun out of the game.

The main reason people are sticking to cross-play in the first place is that it helps to fill up games faster, especially when you need 150 players for Warzone.

However, it appears the main trend for players online is that they're deciding to remove cross-play and stick solely to being matched with other PS4 or Xbox users. Doing this is the only way at the moment to ensure you're not matched with someone who is cheating to win.

As a PS4 player, I usually have cross-play turned off because of the clear and frustrating advantage players using keyboard and mouse have over those of us using controllers on a console.

If you're good enough, using keyboard and mouse on games like Call of Duty and Rainbow Six: Siege, for example, turns the game into a point and click adventure as you line up ridiculously accurate shots in seconds.

Using aimbots, however, takes this to the next level.
