Chelsea are making progress in their move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz and Frank Lampard is increasingly confident of landing the 21-year-old.

Lampard has identified Havertz as one of his top transfer targets and reports in Germany suggest he has agreed personal terms on a switch to Stamford Bridge.

Havertz is valued at around £70million. An agreement is yet to be reached between Chelsea and Leverkusen but the Blues have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Havertz ahead of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and Lampard is closing in on a deal to make him the latest exciting young addition to his squad at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, who are on course to secure a Champions League spot and will face Arsenal in the FA Cup Final, have already signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech for next season.

Lampard is also targeting defensive reinforcements and possibly a new goalkeeper, with question marks over the future of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
