The luxury Miami estate where OJ Simpson lived until he went to prison in 2008 is for sale for £1million ($1.3million).

The house was listed for $1,475,000 in November 2016 but has had its price reduced, with the listing on property website Zillow.com describing the seller as “very motivated”.

Spread over 4,148sq ft, the house has four bedrooms and four bathrooms as well as a separate guest house and a basketball court in the 1.65-acre grounds, described as “the largest lot of land in the neighbourhood.”

Built in 1953, the property has been recently renovated and now features hurricane-resistant windows and doors, marble floors, a pool and parking for six cars.

Simpson is due to be released on parole in October after serving nine years of a 33-year sentence for multiple felony counts including kidnap and armed robbery of sports memorabilia in a Las Vegas hotel room.

The 70-year-old former NFL star and film actor bought the house in the upmarket Miami suburb of Kendall in 2000 for $575,000.

While in prison, Simpson missed two years’ of mortgage payments and the house was foreclosed and then bought by an investment company for $513,200 in 2014. The current seller is another investment company, Southern Farms International, who bought the property for $1.2million, according to Miami Dade public records.

OJ Simpson gained international notoriety during his controversial trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. In 1995 he was acquitted of murder but had to pay out $33.5million to the victims’ families in 1997 after being found liable for their deaths in a civil trial.

The case has seen revived interest in recent years thanks to a series of acclaimed TV programmes including 2016’s The People v. O.J.Simpson, starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and David Schwimmer and OJ: Made in America, which won the 2017 Oscar for Best Documentary.

Speaking to the website Realtor about the Miami property, Orell Anderson, an estate agent who valued Nicole Brown Simpson's home in Los Angeles where she was murdered, said there was nothing wrong with the house.

However, he added: "There is a stigma associated with OJ Simpson given his controversial history."
