For property hunters looking for a home with a top-end hotel attached there are plenty of five-star “branded residences” to choose from.

But less expensive alternatives are available, that still offer owners a lifestyle of 24-hour hotel services and staffing.

There are other benefits, too, that make this type of holiday home an attractive option. Use the hotel to manage and let your property and, for a fee, it can be a hassle-free way of maximising a rental yield.

Homes at high-end hotels offer a serviced lifestyle with super-smart facilities on the doorstep. The idea began in America in the Twenties but has become increasingly popular with modern buyers who appreciate the connection to a recognised international brand. Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons and Aman are among the main players.

From £900,000: apartments at the Mandarin Oriental Residence Tower in Bangkok

Rod Taylor, from Savills, says: “Branded residences are often sold at a premium of 20 to 30 per cent but they offer convenience and security for buyers, who know their home will be well-managed and come with a high level of service.”

MANDARIN ORIENTAL RESIDENCES, BANGKOK

Thailand’s capital Bangkok is a fast-paced city with winning cultural history. It’s a favourite destination for both tourism and business — and the new 146-apartment Mandarin Oriental Residence Tower aims to serve both.

The tower, located on a five-acre site beside the River of Kings, is 10 minutes from the Central Business District and directly opposite the elegant Mandarin Oriental Hotel, arguably Asia’s most famous hotel.

These are the 15th Mandarin Oriental Residences for sale worldwide and the first in Southeast Asia. Thai developer Iconsiam says the freehold two- to four-bedroom apartments are finished to a higher specification than One Hyde Park, the Mandarin Oriental Residences in Knightsbridge, and the show apartments certainly offer a glossy and calm waterfront lifestyle in the midst of Bangkok’s buzz.

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel’s full services are on call along with the residences’ own concierge and in-house leisure facilities of restaurants, pools, gym and even a golf simulator. Prices start from £900,000 with annual service charges from £9,700.

Completion is planned for 2019 and well over half the homes are already sold to buyers from Asia, Europe and America.
